Ashley’s Story
Ashley enrolled in Healthier Moms and Babies looking for guidance, stability, and someone she could trust to help support her during here pregnancy. When she enrolled in our program she was facing several challenges, including limited financial resources, an unstable work schedule without maternity leave, and concerns about postpartum depression and anxiety based on her previous experience.
Through home visiting services, Ashley found consistent, one-on-one support that helped her navigate both immediate needs and long-term goals. Her Family Advocate worked closely with her to build a reliable support system, connecting her to community resources such as WIC and local organizations that provided essential baby supplies. With each visit, Ashley received not only tangible resources like diapers and coupons, but also encouragement and reassurance that she was capable of creating a stable future for herself and her children.
Together, they focused on key areas of education, including safe sleep practices, prenatal nutrition, signs of preterm labor, and preparing for postpartum mental health. These conversations helped Ashley feel more confident and prepared for her new baby while also addressing ongoing challenges in her personal life.
One of Ashley’s biggest accomplishments in the program was securing a new full-time job with a stable schedule and paid maternity leave, an important step toward long-term stability for her family. With continued support, she is also working toward her goal of breastfeeding and maintaining her overall well-being.
Ashley shared that without Healthier Moms and Babies, she would not have had someone to talk to or guide her through difficult decisions. Through home visiting, she has gained not only resources, but the confidence and support needed to move forward and build a healthier future for her growing family.
