Alexiea’s Story

Alexiea’s journey to motherhood was profoundly shaped by the support of Healthier Moms and Babies Doula Services. Referred at 27 weeks pregnant, she sought a natural birth but felt overwhelmed as a first-time mom. The Nurse Home Visiting Program provided essential education on pregnancy, safe sleep, and infant care, giving her the confidence she needed. However, it was the introduction of a doula that truly empowered her to believe the birth plan she wanted was possible. Her doula guided her through labor preparation, equipping her with pain management techniques and emotional reassurance. This support was crucial in helping Alexiea stay focused and in control of her birth plan.

When the time came, Alexiea achieved her goal of a natural water birth in the hospital, supported by her doula, husband and doctor. The presence of her doula made all the difference—helping her manage labor pains, to stay calm, and to remain confident during her natural water birth in the hospital. Postpartum, the doula continued to provide emotional and physical support, ensuring Alexiea transitioned smoothly into motherhood. With ongoing Nurse Home Visiting Program nurse visits monitoring her baby’s growth and development, she felt reassured and prepared for the challenges ahead. Looking back, Alexiea credits Healthier Moms and Babies doula and nurse support for transforming her experience, proving the invaluable role these services play in empowering new mothers.
