Healthier Moms and Babies provides several comprehensive programs which are designed to educate, empower, and inspire participants to make positive changes to impact the outcome of the pregnancies, their lives and the lives of their families.


Job Purpose

The Male Engagement & Outreach Worker supports Healthier Moms and Babies’ mission by strengthening father involvement through group-based education and community outreach. This role focuses on facilitating group education sessions for fathers and male caregivers to promote father engagement, positive parenting, health education, and life skills development.

The role will utilize the evidence-based 24/7 Dad and Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum to increase fatherly engagement and parenting skills across various demographics and communities, helping to improve outcomes for children and families.

This individual will assist with diaper distribution and outreach efforts via HMB mobile outreach unit, The Hopper. They will play a key role in supporting and enhancing Hopper outreach efforts by regularly attending and leading events, facilitating group education sessions, and helping ensure smooth and efficient distribution operations across Allen and surrounding counties.

Hourly Pay: $22.00

  • Father Engagement & Education

    • Participate in outreach strategies to effectively recruit, engage and retain, fathers/ male partners associated with mother/infant participants into program activities and services.

    • Plan, coordinate and facilitate fatherhood group education classes intended to improve the health and resilience of fathers/male partners

    • Complete one-on-one meetings and/or home visits when necessary.

    • Meet or exceed monthly benchmarks.

    • Maintain detailed, timely, and accurate documentation in the agency database

    • Promote healthy relationships, life skills, and father involvement across diverse populations.

    • Connect participants with community resources, healthcare providers, and HMB services.

    • Identify clients eligible for HMB-specific programs and refer them to the Intake and Outreach Supervisor.

    • Report any case that may involve “imminent harm” or “threatened harm” to a supervisor immediately. Always intervene on behalf of the child when necessary.

    Hopper Events & Outreach

    • Lead and attend Hopper diaper distribution and outreach events across Allen and surrounding counties.

    • Assist with event logistics, including setup, client engagement, Jot Form, and participant surveys.

    • Maintain tracking forms and required statistical information in a detailed and timely manner, ensuring benchmarks are met.

    • Ensure client eligibility and track diapers distribution at Hopper events.

    • Facilitate group education sessions as a requirement for participation.

    • Support the Diaper Distribution Coordinator by helping coordinate schedules, communicating with partner agencies, and maintaining organization within the mobile unit.

    • Maintain professional and positive relationships with volunteers, staff, and partner organizations at outreach events.

    • Uphold safety and cleanliness standards within The Hopper.

    • Record fuel usage, miles, and time data as regulatory entities require.

    • Lift and transport boxes of diapers to storage areas and within the Hopper.

    • Provide adequate training and oversight of volunteers and staff attending events.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with the Diaper Distribution Coordinator, Warehouse Coordinator, and other HMB staff to ensure smooth execution of Hopper events and integration of father engagement strategies.

    • Meet regularly with the supervisor to review participant cases, event logistics, and ongoing goals.

    • Represent Healthier Moms and Babies in a professional manner and communicate information accurately and clearly in all settings.

    • Takes initiative and responsibility for decisions as an individual and as a staff member of HMB.

    • Encourages and contributes to a positive work environment and experience for coworkers and clients.

    • Work evenings and weekends as needed.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

    • Must have a current valid Driver’s License.

    • Experience in health education, case management, social services and/or low-income families

    • Previous experience with fathers/male caregivers strongly preferred.

    • Ability to facilitate group classes and provide culturally competent support.

    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to lift and transport diapers and other supplies as needed.

    • Requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends and travel throughout Allen and surrounding counties.

    • Requires the ability, competence, and confidence to drive the mobile diaper vehicle as part of routine job duties.

    • Effectively advocates for quality participant safety and satisfaction as a daily practice.

    • Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound vehicle, maintaining fuel levels and preventive maintenance schedule.

    • Obey all traffic laws.

    • Perform inspections of the vehicle before and after each route/scheduled visit/activity

    • Responds to emergencies independently and within the scope of practice until professional assistance is available.

    • Load and unload the equipment as necessary

    • Demonstrates integrity in all situations and interactions; can develop trusting, collaborative, professional relationships with coworkers, clients, and community partners.

    • Relates culturally sensitive to low-income clients and those from diverse backgrounds.

    • Able to communicate concisely, tactfully, and professionally.

    • Must have organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple and diverse clients and concurrently.

    • Must have superior conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.

    • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Outlook, Office, and Excel is required.
