Now Hiring- Fatherhood Coordinator

Job Summary

Within Healthier Moms and Babies (HMB) Healthy Start Program and reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Fatherhood Coordinator manages outreach and programming directed towards fathers/male partners in targeted zip codes within Healthy Start. The Fatherhood Coordinator will be responsible for recruitment, training and oversight of mentors who will work with fathers. The Fatherhood Coordinator will coordinate with the HMB home visitors to encourage the partners of the female participants to enroll in the fatherhood program. The Fatherhood Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment of male participation in the program, plan, promote and facilitate father involvement activities to emphasize and encourage a family approach to child development. Promote community outreach awareness of the importance of the father involvement in child development. Serves as an organizational representative on fatherhood coalitions and other related groups to coordinate activities. Provide support and guidance to fathers in the program. Create awareness of the organization’s services that can assist fathers. Develop relationships with the fathers to encourage long term involvement with the program. Facilitate groups on relevant topics for fathers.

Experience

BA/BS Degree Minimum degree in Human Behavioral Science, Public Health, Social Work or Human Services. Minimum of three years’ experience in health education or case management, specifically working with low-income families. Previous experience working with fathers or males strongly preferred. Knowledge of the importance of fathers during pregnancy, families and child development. Demonstrates integrity in all situations and interactions; has the ability to develop trusting, collaborative, professional relationships with coworkers, clients, and community collaborators. Knowledge of Fort Wayne’s community agencies and social service network, ability to work with diverse cultures and a willingness to make home visits. Must have current valid Driver’s License.
