January Mom of the Month

We’d like for you to meet one of our new moms, Skyla. During her pregnancy Skyla worked with one of our nurses Julie, who helped her learn the signs and symptoms of preterm labor, helped her to understand the changes her body was facing, how the baby was developing, and most importantly, when to know something is wrong and when to call the doctor!  During Skyla’s pregnancy her biggest concern was her struggle with ongoing depression. Thanks to Julie’s support, she understood depression is common during pregnancy and should be treated just like any other health concern. With support from her mom and Julie’s education, Skyla received the help she needed to manage her depression.

Skyla's baby sleeps in her arms.

Through it all she began college courses to maintain her 21st Century Scholarship and completed her CNA Licensing! She also participated in Parkview Health’s Centering Pregnancy program, attended A Hope Center educational programming, received incentives from A Baby’s Closet, and attended the WIC breastfeeding class. She told us, “I liked everything about Healthier Moms and Babies, the gifts for my baby and myself, and all the helpful information. I also liked that Julie brought me snacks a few times.”  We are so proud of you and think your little one is the best! Your future is bright!
